Privacy Policy
Effective July 15, 2026
BirdnetGo is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking of any kind, and no third-party services. We never collect or sell data — there is nothing to collect.
Your server, your data
BirdnetGo is a companion app for a BirdNET-Go server that you run yourself. The app communicates exclusively with the server address you configure. All bird detections, statistics, images, spectrograms, and audio recordings shown in the app come from your server and stay between your device and your server. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
What the app stores on your device
Your server address and display preferences are stored on your device. If your server requires a password, it is stored in the iOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential store on your device. None of this is uploaded anywhere — it is used only to connect to the server you configured.
Microphone and location
BirdnetGo does not record audio and never asks for microphone access — listening and species detection happen entirely on your own server hardware. The app also does not request or use your device's location.
Network requests
Every network request the app makes goes to your configured server. Like any network traffic, those requests include your device's IP address, which your own server may log according to how you have configured it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
